Air Source Heat Pumps

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) are an alternative heating system to conventional gas or oil boilers.

Installed outside a property, the units work in a similar way to an air conditioning unit or refrigerator, but in reverse, where they use thermal energy from the outside air and convert it to provide heating and hot water for the building.

ASHPs can deliver home energy efficiencies that significantly reduce the cost of your energy bill.

Ground Source Heat Pumps

Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs) are another alternative renewable heating system to replace conventional gas or oil boilers.

Their units are installed inside a property or in an external plant room where they circulate heat from the connected series of underground pipes that are  laid either horizontally or vertically in trenches.

The GSHP raises the temperature of the heat then distributes it to provide hot water and space heating via radiators, underfloor heating or fan coil units in the property.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)

Following expiry of the Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI) grant on 31 March 2022, the government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) was launched on 1 April 2022, and will run until 2025.

With this, eligible domestic and commercial property owners are now able to have grant vouchers for a heat pump to be installed from the 23rd of October 2023.

The grant is issued in a two-stage voucher system, before installation and upon completion, coming directly from OFGEM to the installer for the end consumer to consent before any payment is made.
